About the event
Journey Home is a bus tour that simulates what it might be like to enter, age out, and find/ not find permanency for children/youth in the child welfare system.
Policy and decision-makers, social workers, business people, students/educators, foster/adoptive parents, members of the justice system, community leaders will participate and hear directly from youth/young adults with lived experience in foster/group care and their recommendations for change within the child welfare system.
Participants also learn from the professionals working to support and dismantle barriers to a child, youth or young adults success. Barriers addressed may include: homelessness, mental health, developmental trauma, human trafficking, isolation, education, and incarceration.
The purpose of this bus tour is to educate the community about the importance and need for permanency for the children/youth in the child welfare system.
