About the event

Journey Home: S.E.E. is a bus tour that simulates the experience of entering into, aging out, and the importance of finding permanency for children/youth in the child welfare system.

Students studying in the fields of Child and Youth Work, Social Service Work, Police Foundations, Community and Justice Services, and Victimology will hear directly from youth with lived experience in foster/group care and their recommendations for change within the child welfare system.

Participants also learn from the professionals working to support and dismantle barriers to a child or youths success. Barriers addressed may include: homelessness, mental health, developmental trauma, human trafficking, isolation, education, and incarceration.

The purpose of this bus tour is to educate the community about the importance and need for permanency for the children/youth in the child welfare system.
