About the event
Journey Home London is a bus tour that simulates the experience of entering into and aging out of the child welfare system without a permanent connection or family.
Policy and decision-makers, social workers, local businesses, educators, foster/adoptive parents, members of the justice system and community leaders hear directly from youth with lived experience in foster/group care and their recommendations for change in the child welfare system.
Participants also learn from the professionals working to support and dismantle barriers to a child or youths success. Barriers addressed may include: homelessness, mental health, developmental trauma, isolation, education, and incarceration.
The purpose of this bus tour is to educate the community about the importance and need for permanency for the children/youth in the child welfare system.
